Nomathamsanqa “Nkwali” Mkwananzi is a multi-talented singer, dancer, actress, and composer whose artistic journey has captivated audiences across continents. Nkwali discovered her passion for the arts early in life, performing in church choirs and school productions at Emakhandeni Primary and Sobukhazi High School.

Her first brush with the spotlight came at age seven, when she appeared as an extra in the film Power of One, starring Morgan Freeman and Zimbabwean actor Alois Moyo. This formative experience sparked a lifelong dedication to performance.

At 19, Nkwali enrolled in a school of arts to refine her craft. She soon began touring internationally, performing at prestigious festivals like WOMAD and Africa Oye, and appearing in theatre productions at events such as Zrada, Fringe, Afrika Tage, Kasumama, and Shakespeare until 2006.

In 2006, her career reached new heights when she became the lead singer and dancer in the acclaimed circus show Mother Africa. She performed with the troupe for 11 years, captivating audiences with her vibrant stage presence and powerful vocals.

In 2015, Nkwali launched her solo career, releasing her debut a cappella album Sithokozile, which earned her the ZIMA Award for Best A Cappella Album in 2016. Her music blends traditional Zimbabwean rhythms with contemporary influences, showcasing her versatility and deep cultural roots.

Nkwali continues to represent Zimbabwe on the global stage, working on new music and expanding her artistic legacy. Her performances are not just entertainment—they are a celebration of African identity, resilience, and creativity.
